Our Chief Editor, Adrian Martin holds a Master's degree (M.A) in Professional Writing (M.A) and a Bachelor's degree (B.A. Hons) in English with Creative Writing, both awarded by Falmouth University. He also has extensive experience within the industry having previously been traditionally published in two separate genres.
For many aspiring authors, publishing a novel is a dream that grips them from a young age – but that wasn’t the case for Adrian:
“There was never any specific agenda to become a writer, it happened organically. My education was severely interrupted growing up, and I left school with only my GCSE's in English and Drama. At age eighteen I eloped and joined the British Army, serving in various conflicts around the world. This is where my writing journey began, writing poems about the observations I made on a daily basis. Upon leaving the army I worked as a lorry driver, both nationally and internationally. Being away for such long periods gave me time to pen my first novel. However, his passion for literature and creative writing became too strong, so I returned to university full-time to complete my B. A (Hons) and M.A. This was to be a pivotal time in my life where writing and books caught me in a web from which there would never be an escape. I have previously been a member of the Romantic Novelist's Association RNA, attending annual conferences where networking really does open new doors and friendships.”
Discovering his passion for teaching and empowering, Adrian thrives when mentoring and guiding individuals through the creative writing process. From structure, dialogue, themes, plot, characterisation, and the other tools required to pen a novel, Adrian's sense of reward comes from his mentees achieving their dreams.
